Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

A gas dryer does not use a heating element for the heat source, it has gas burner which ignites after the glow bar igniter glows and the flame sensor opens. The glow bar igniter must have 120 volts supplied to it or it will not glow or will not heat.

There could be numerous reasons why the gas dryer is not heating. It could have one of the following component failures in the circuit to the igniter:

  • Faulty timer
  • High limit thermostat
  • Operating thermostat
  • Thermal fuse
  • Broken igniter
  • Faulty flame sensor
  • Broken glow bar igniter
  • Weak solenoid coils on the gas valve assembly
  • Faulty motor centrifugal switch
  • Broken/loose or burnt wire connection.

I would begin by disconnecting the thermal fuse and testing it for continuity with an Ohm meter. The thermal fuse is located behind the rear panel and so is the operating thermostat and high limit thermostat. These can also be disconnected and tested for continuity with and Ohm meter. The thermal fuse will have Red wire and Red wire with a white stripe connected to it and it will mounted on the blower wheel housing. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the rear panel and disconnecting the thermal fuse.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
