Question and Answers

Kenmore dryer overheating. 110.7008521 model, replaced thermostats. Unit worked well for a few months but, problem has returned. Did I miss something?

It sounds like you put in quite a bit of work on the dryer repair. I can understand still having a problem would be upsetting. I did some searching of the archived expert posts and did not find a match for this issue and your model but I did find a post that has some additional checks that can be made while you wait for the expert. Never hurts to double check. I attached the link below. Hope this helps.

I didn't see anything related to my problem. I was looking at the other posts but, they were told to replace the thermostats I have already replaced AND my problem has returned. Clothes are too hot to touch right after stopping. This problem did not occur before first failure of the original thermostats. It has a new heating element in it. It is reading 10K ohms across the element terminals. This appears to be normal to the diagrams I have seen. Exhaust vent is clear and air flow is good. Any help is greatly appreciated.

HI Donnie,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am sorry you are having problems with your dryer.

From what you are describing the only thing other than bad thermostats and restricted airflow is a grounded element. Have you checked continuity on both heater terminals to the heater housing? If the heating element is touching ground it will heat continuously.

You stated that the exhaust is clear with good air flow, but I recommend running the dryer with the vent off the dryer and checking to see if the dryer overheats. If the dryer cycles on and off and does not overheat, the vent is restricted.

The part numbers that you listed seem to be correct for your model.

We do not have a manual for this model, but I have included an image below of the diagram.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Thanks again for using Manage My Life.
