Thermal Fuse:
When the lights are on but an electric dryer will not run the most likely cause of the problem and first thing to check is the thermal fuse located on the exhaust housing behind the rear panel. The fuse can be checked for continuity if a meter is available.

How to test push to start switch:
To test this component, unplug the dryer and access the switch in the console. Check the continuity through the contacts where the blue wires are attached. Without the button pushed, you should measure infinite resistance (open). Push the button and hold it in. Measure the resistance through the leads with the button pushed in. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (closed) while the button is pushed in. If not, then the switch is bad and will need to be replaced.

The door switch could also cause the dryer not to start.
You can also check is to the door switch. You can open the dryer door & press in on the door switch with your finger, you should hear & feel a click. If the door switch is not responding you will need to replace it.

If the dryer will run after you adjust and play with the timer, this indicates that you likely failure is in that timer component (part 3976576). Replacing that timer will probably fix your problem.
