Check the air flow out of your exhaust vent. Poor exhaust vent air flow could cause scorching of garments. Check the flexible vent behind your dryer for kinks or clogs. Check for air flow from the vent on the outside of your home.

If you are using dryer softener sheets, wash the lint screen with water to clean any possible buildup of softener residue that can restrict air flow through the dryer.

Make sure that you are not overloading the dryer. This could prevent the clothes from tumbling properly. Scorching could occur if the clothes do not tumble properly.

Check the front felt seal around the drum. Run a moist cloth around this area in the front of the dryer drum. Try running a load with no heat if you suspect that the felt seal is causing the streaks. If you get brown streaks from this area, the felt seal may need to be replaced.
