Question and Answers

Q:

timer continue to run when nomral cycle completes 110.68532700

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear your dryer is not working. I know how upsetting this can be. For your dryer (11068532700), I do recommend replacing the timer (8299784). Replacing this timer will stop the dryer from running after it has completed its cycles. You can give us a call at 1800-366-7278 or you can click here. I hope this helps you. Have a great day!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Just shutting the door would not cause the element to come on. In order for the heating element to come when the door is shut and not running, the timer would have to be turned on and the motor centrifugal switch contact 2M and 1M would have to be stuck closed completing the line one and line two supply voltages to the heating element. Or, if the timer is set and the heating element is broken and shorted to the heater housing, the heating element will heat up on half the voltage (120). If the timer is not set and the motor is not running, just closing the door would not cause the heater to come on.

I added an image below and traced the heating circuit in red. I recommend disconnecting the power cord from the power source and then remove the rear panel and heating element. Check the heating element coils to see if it's broken and touching the metal housing. I added a YouTube video showing how to access the heating element if you feel confident in diagnosing and repairing the dryer yourself. If the element is broken and shorted, replace the element and your dryer should operate normally.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
