Q:

manual to remove front panel of dryer. 11068522700 Kenmore Residential dryer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I have located some instructions on how to gain access to the dryer by removing the front panel. Due to the size of the image, I have attached a blue link below that you may click on to view the image in a new window. It covers gaining access to several different sections of the dryer including the control panel, front panel, and the dryer top. Hopefully it helps.

Just click on the blue link below to be directed to the page to view the instructions for the Kenmore dryer. These are not model specific instructions, but the access options discussed would be the same for your dryer.

These instructions are close, however this model does not have the screws at the front, base of the console. There were two screws holding two brackets at the rear, so I removed them. Then the top panel came off as shown in the instructions. There is no toe front panel on this model either. One trick I used instead of removing the front panel, was to remove the rear panel to get access to the bottom of the dryer in order to remove the lint. There was a 4-5" diameter hole when I removed the rear panel that gave me access to the inside area. I vacuumed out all of the lint from this access hole, and then used the hose of my air compressor to blow out the rest of the cabinet, while the vacuum kept running at the bottom rear hole. Then I removed the lint screen, and blew air into the lint screen area and then in the dryer exhaust air vent hole until all of the line was cleaned out. Another trick that I picked up is that when I had the unit clean, I could see light shining into the exhaust air vent hole from the top of the lint screen area!

Excellent, glad you were able to reference the instructions even though they were not spot on. We don't always have model specific instructions on every model, so we try to use the best resources possible to assist.

We definitely appreciate your feedback, as I am sure it will be handy for others to reference down the line when they are looking at doing the same job. I can't agree with you more on how handy an air compressor is to blow the excess lint out of the body. I even use my compressor to shoot down through the lint housing to get all the lint out of the lint duct through the rear exhaust hose.

Once again, we appreciate your update and feedback and thank you for using SearsPartsDirect.com. Have a great day David.
