Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The single motor units do not have a fuse between the machine control board and motor control because it does not have a motor control board.

The "F40" Error Code indicates a communication error.

If your dryer has not any parts installed to cause this fault code, the user interface will need to be replaced. If the User Interface has the right combination of bad diodes it can tell the control that it is a dual motor model when it is not which can cause "F40" fault code.

Replacing the user interface should resolve the "F40" fault code. I added images below with instructions. The User Interface #W10051159 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

A:

Jami: I must assume you replaced the machine control board and not the motor control board because according to the model number your dryer blower is belt driven and does not have electric motor driving the blower. Since both components have been replaced; I strongly recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer. It could be a wire issue between the two boards or one of the two parts replaced is faulty.

I can understand wanting to make this repair yourself and dryers are often good home projects.

First, make sure the dryer door is completely closed and making connection. The dryer will not run if the door is not secure.

Anna is correct that the F fault is usually accompanied by another letter or a number. You can try to reset the control on the dryer by unplugging it for 30 seconds. If the F code was caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines, this tactic will sometimes reset the controls so that they will work normally. If the F code returns, see if it does have an additional letter or number. The first image below shows some of the error codes this model will display.

If the error fault does not display, you can use the next two images to run a diagnostic test. Press stop twice to exit diagnostics. Please respond back with findings for the next steps in troubleshooting this issue.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for the model number. F40 indicates a communication error between the machine controls and the motor control. I highly recommend having a technician make further tests. You can schedule a Sears technician at the link below. If you feel comfortable doing these checks, use the images below to access the components and follow the testing instructions. Remember to unplug the dryer before accessing any components or making repairs. Take your time examining the wiring and connections. It may simply be a wire connection is not making full contact. You will need an ohm meter for voltage continuity tests. If replacement parts are needed, you can find them at the Sears Parts Direct link in the second link below. Please reply if more information is needed.

According to your details, the full model number of your dryer is 110.68062800 or 110.68062801. Here is a link for the owner's manual on that dryer: Owner's Manual .

As noted in that first link for a previous answer that Pvalde2 provided above, you can try to reset the control on the dryer by unplugging it for 30 seconds. If the F1 code was caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines, this tactic will sometimes reset the controls so that they will work normally. If the F1 code returns, you will need to replace the machine control electronics board (part W10111616 for model 110.68062800 or part W10111623 for model 110.68062801). You should find a model number sticker around the opening to the dryer drum. Open the dryer door to view this area.

If you order that machine control board, you may able to install it yourself by unplugging the dryer and following the procedure shown in the image below.

These tips may help you with this dryer failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
