Question and Answers

Q:

What would make my Kenmore model 110.66904690 dryer not heat?

A:

More detail about this problem would help diagnose this problem.

If the dryer is running but not heating then the first thing to check on an electric dryer is the household circuit breakers to the dryer. It is possible one of the 120 volt breakers will trip leaving the dryer 120 volts to run with but no 240 volts to heat with. Turn each breaker off and then back on and see if it helps.

If the voltage and breakers are okay then there are several parts that might prevent the dryer from heating. The no heat problem could be caused by the timer, operating thermostat, thermal cutoff, hi-limit thermostat, element or even the motor switch. The wiring diagram in the image below will help you with this.

All parts except the timer and motor switch can be check for continuity if you have access to a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable and confident using it. You can access the thermostats and element by removing the lower access panel. The 2nd and 3rd image will help you with this.

Without a meter it will be difficult to check this problem and I'd suggest a technician check and repair the problem.
