My Kenmore dryer stopped in mid cycle and wouldn't restart. I replaced thermal fuses, still won't start. Timer continues working. I replaced push to start knob 11066702691 Kenmore Electric dryer

Thank You for choosing Sears I regret to hear that you are having issues with your dryer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 11066702691 and based on the explanation you provided , the first thing to check would be the door switch, if the door switch goes bad the dryer will not start, also check the wires to the switch for damage.

If you have the proper testing equipment, test the power supply at the dryer terminal block, there should read 240 volts ac + - 5%. If the power id lost check your breakers. Also If I correctly understand the problem the dryer will run but then the entire dyer shuts down in the middle of the cycle and will not restart. Also if the dryer shuts down in the middle of the cycle the cause is a bad motor.

If the dryer motor shuts down and won't restart for 15-30 minutes then it is likely the motor tripped on the overload and shut down. The overload will cool down and eventually reset itself and allow the dryer to run.

A broken belt, open thermal fuse or bad door switch will not allow the dryer to run but it will not run again until they are repaired. Sometimes clothes will push against the door and the door switch will open and the dryer will stop running. Once you open and shut the door the dryer should run. I hope this information helps you with your troubleshooting.  If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.
Thank you for choosing Sears

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you're able to restart the dryer immediately after it stops in mid-cycle, then it's possible the door is being kicked open just enough to stop the dryer. If the dryer will not restart immediately after it stops and it has to cool down, then I would suspect the motor is over heating and shutting off on the motor thermal overload. The motor could be faulty or the motor could be covered in a layer of lint dust.

In order to access the motor the lint filter must be taken out and the two screws that were hidden by the lint filter. The top must be hinged open. You will find a spring type clip between the top and the front panel that will need to be pushed inwards with a putty knife to release the top. The clips are located about 2-3 inches inwards from each corner. Once the top has been hinged open, remove the screw located near the top of the left and right side panels that are threaded into the front panel. Tilt the top of the front panel out enough to disconnect the door switch and then lift the front panel up off the two hanger clips and remove the front panel.NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
