When an electric dryer runs but doesn't heat then the two circuit breakers supplying power would be the place to start. If one breaker trips the dryer would have 120 volts to run the motor but not have 240 volts for the heating element. If the breakers are okay then if a meter is available the thermostats and thermal cut-off can be checked for continuity. If no meter is available there is a trick to bypassing the thermal cut-off and thermostats. Let me know if you would like to know more about this trick. The parts are all located behind the rear panel. Remember to unplug the dryer first before removing the rear panel. I hop this helps. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.

This trick is only for the thermal cut-off and control/high heat thermostats. If the dryer runs then the thermal fuse is okay. Start with the thermal cut-off or high limit thermostat. The trick would be to remove the two wires from the thermostat and join them together with a small piece of insulated wire. Please no paper clips!! This bypasses the thermostat. Try the dryer and see if it will heat. If it does then that thermostat is the problem. If it still doesn't heat then try the control thermostat. On the control thermostat don't worry about the two small purple wires. Try the thermal cut-off, control thermostat and high limit thermostat and let me know what happens. Remember to unplug the dryer will bypassing the parts.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The blower wheel will need to be threaded off the motor shaft. I added a YouTube video show how to remove the blower wheel and how to replace the motor .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Hi Cyndy,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The first thing I recommend checking is the vent and making sure the lint screen is clean. Ventilate your laundry area very well; disconnect the dryer vent and try running a cycle. If the Kenmore Electric Dryer 11066702690 does not shut off, you have a restricted vent and will need to have it cleaned. The remaining checks will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have a meter and are confident in your ability to safely perform these checks, reply to this post and I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.
