Q:

dryer ground lug

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dryer. The image below will provide the directions on how to install a 3-wire plug. As you can see the neutral wire will connect to the center terminal. The ground wire on the unit is not changed. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for the quick answer. In summary, I believe you are saying that grounding the dryer chassis to the neutral lug of a 3-wire plug is not neccessary.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

Here is a video that demonstrates installing the new idler assembly; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. This dryer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

The new part may look different than the old part, but are installed the same way. I have included pictures of both in the images below.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If the dryer is heating, then the motor is turning. Iif the motor is turning but the drum is not then a broken belt is the most likely cause.

I suggest you raise the top of the dryer to check the belt.

The image below will help you raise the top panel. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

A new belt 341241 can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

I would also suggest if the belt is broken to replace the 691366 idler pulley at the same time.

The belt is a good do-it-yourself project that will save you $129 dollars. You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.
