I can understand your confusion over your dryer not heating occasionally.  The thermal cut off might be at the bottom of your problems. I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail.
Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be

Electrician came and replace breaker, but dryer continues not to heat. I saw in another post where someone found lint in the element compartment. Could this be the problem? If so, where is the element compartment.

Not having a properly working dryer can be very frustrating, I can understand your concern. I will be glad to help you. This type of diagnosis will require using a volt/ohm meter. All of the components in the path to the heating element have to show continuity. If you find the thermal cut-off bad be sure to check for a blocked vent or shorted heating element. Please see the image of the wiring diagram provided below. I recommend starting out by checking the supply voltage you should read 220volts. If one of the double 30 amp breakers trip the dryer will run but not heat. If the voltage is okay, then you could have a bad operating thermostat, a failed high limit thermostat or a bad heating element in the dryer.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Thank you both for your assistance! I have looked over the previous posts, and the wiring diagram and still have a concern regarding the connection. I haven't worked with wiring diagrams in years and I have a follow up question regarding the heating element. Is it bi-directional? By that I mean does it matter which side I connect on top or bottom as long as the element is connected between the high limit thermostat and the centrifugal switch. Personally I would connect the HLT to the top as that is the direction of the circuit, but I lack confidence in my interpretation. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Hi Tom, thank you for the reply. You are correct. It does not matter which side you connect on top or bottom as long as the element is connected between the high limit thermostat and the centrifugal switch. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
