From the description you give I suspect the problem is a stuck or shorted keypad on the console. You will most likely need to replace the console to fix this problem. If you are up for do-it-yourself I'd suggest you access the control and remove the ribbon connector to the console and then reattach it and hope for an improvement. Let me know if you would like to try this and I'll provide more detail.

The E1 error code on your dryer is indicating that the thermos is open. This means that the dryer will not be able to heat like it normal does. The thermistor will most likely need to be replaced. There is a test you can do to confirm this. The image below will provide the instructions for this test.
