Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

First, do not over load the washer or use too much detergent or the wrong type of detergents or it can cause a washability issue. It also does not have a lint filter.

This is not a typical washer and it may not meet your needs. The Calypso Wash Motion achieves a significant energy savings by utilizing less water than a traditional top loading machine with an agitator. This is made possible by the use of a Nutator which provides an undulating motion to toss the wash load.

The nutate plate constantly undulates or tips at approximately 35 degrees from level. The undulating action constantly rolls the load over and toward the center of the basket. By keeping the load near the bottom of the basket, it is only necessary to maintain four inches of water below the nutate plate.

The water in the basket is constantly recirculated and sprayed onto the wash load during wash and rinse cycles.

With this said it's important to use HE detergent and not too much or it may leave lint and grit and not clean properly. It's also important that the nutate plate is actually nutating and that it's recirculating water onto the clothes. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

A:

Dmacone1: The "LD" indicates Long Drain. I would suspect that some of the rug came apart and is restricting/ jamming the drain pump or one of the check balls inside the sump canister is not seating properly. The sump is part o the outer tub and it cannot be removed for cleaning. You will need to remove the hoses and try to fish/grab to remove any pieced of the rug. The only other way to get access into the sump is to remove the wash plate and basket and I do not recommend attempting to do so. Call a service technician if you're not able to remove the pieces of rug from the drain pump and or sump. Use a bright flashlight to illuminate the sump canister to make it easier to see what may be caught inside of it. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before raising the top and removing the front panel. I added a couple of images below to reference. I hope this is helpful.

Q:

What does flashing code 'E1' mean? 11061082000

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the troubles you're having with the Kenmore dryer. I know how frustrating issues like this are to have happen.
Error code E1 indicates an open thermistor. This component works in conjunction with the electronic control to monitor the exhaust temperature.
There is a test that can be performed to narrow down the failed component, which I will outline below:

Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint screen.

1. Set the following configuration:

  • "Select Cycle" press Cotton/Towels
  • "Timed Dry" press More Time or Less Time
  • Press End of Cycle Signal (High)
  • Door- must be closed
  • Press Start
2. If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor or wire harness is either shorted or open.
  • Check wire connections at the electronic control and thermistor.
  • If wiring is functional, replace the thermistor. Unplug the dryer and remove the front toe panel. Remove the two wires and replace the thermistor.
3. If the dryer appears to operate correctly, remove the exhaust vent and start the dryer.
  • Under Select Cycle, press touchpad for desired temperature cycle to be tested, and select 20 minutes of Timed Dry heat using the "More Time" or "Less Time" touchpads. Hold a glass bulb thermometer capable of reading from 90-180 degrees in the center of the exhaust outlet. Measure exhaust temperatures with heater off and on.
  • Cotton/Towels (High Heat) should read 155 degrees +/- 10 degrees when heat turns off. Delicate/Casual (Low Heat) should read 125 degrees +/- 10 degrees when heat turns off.
4. If the exhaust temperature is not within specified limits, check the resistance of the thermistor. At room temperature of 70 degrees, the resistance should read 11.9 K ohm.

5. If the thermistor resistance checks within normal limits, replace the electronic control.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
