Question and Answers

Q:

Having trouble fixing a dryer .

A:

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife.  I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The PF means power failure and if the dryer is disconnected from the wall supply the PF will appear.  Press the stop/cancel button to clear that code.  You say you have the tech sheet so does it have the test in it or is it just a diagram for the wiring.  You will need to go into the test and first do the button test and if that test fails do the test #5  on the sheet.  If you do not have the test sheet let me know.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Q:

How can I re-set my dryer?

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem you are having with your Kenmore 110.60052991 Electric Dryer.  The model number you submitted is short a few numbers but this is an Elite model.   There is no magic reset button but when an electric dryer runs but does not heat the first this to check are the two circuit breakers supplying power to the dryer.  If one bvreaker trips then it is possible for the dryer to have 120 volts to run the motot but not have 240 volts to run the element.  Try turning each of the dryer's breakers off then on and see if there is any improvement.  The other ususal suspects are the thermal cut-off, high limit thermostat and element itself.  If the dryer is running then the thermal fuse is okay.  The parts are located behind the lower access panel.  See the image below.  Remember to unplug the dryer first.   Please check the entire model number and reply below with any additional details for further assistance.  You can also have the problem checked and repaired in your home by a Sears technician.  Here is the link:  Sears Home Services Dryer Repair.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. The "check lint screen" will display just as a reminder and has nothing to do with the dryer not starting. Based on your symptom it sounds like it may have failed thermal fuse, broken belt, door switch failure or a control board failure.

Without having the model number I will not be able to provide any model specific troubleshooting assistance.

Reply with the model number for model specific troubleshooting assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Jiang: The most common failure preventing your model from starting providing is generally a faulty thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is located at the front of the dryer. It will be on the blowerwheel housing. I added a link to a YouTube video showing how to test the thermal fuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nicyh6EUHc&feature=player_embedded Remove the front lower access panel by pressing down on the two clips at the top of the panel while prying the panel off. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel and replacing the thermal fuse.

Enrique: The first thing to check is thermal fuse. The fornt lower access panel will need to be taken off to access and test thermal fuse. Disconnect the two wires from the thermal fuse and test the thermal fuse for continuity using an Ohm meter. The image in answer above shows where the thermal fuse is located and how to remove the front lower access panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing. If the thermal fuse is okay, the control board may have failed.
