Question and Answers

Q:

why is my dryer taking twice as long to dry clothes then normal

A:

When a dryer, like the Kenmore, takes too long to dry the clothes, eventually it will cost more and managemylife.com is about reducing those costs.  While waiting for an expert response on your specific model, check out the link provided below.  Hope it helps.  If you decide on service, that link is also available.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, I suspect a restricted venting system. One way of confirming if you have a restricted venting system is to disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then dry one load of clothes. If it dries in a normal amount of time, this would indicate the vent system is restricted or has a blockage. If the vent hose is pinched or crimped, it will also cause it to take longer than normal to dry.  Check the outside vent hood too and make sure the flapper door is opening and is not stuck shut.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the new door switch will plug into the harness then it will likely work. If the new door switch will not plug into the harness then you could cut and splice the wires together using wire nuts. The extra wire on the new switch would have been used on dryer models with a drum light. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing the dryer.

I added an image of the wiring diagram below. If the new door switch connector will not fit into the harness plug, you will need to cut the plug off the old door switch and the plug off the new one and then splice white to white and blue to blue and then use wire nuts to join the wires together.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why is the coin slide not working on my Kenmore dryer?

A:

You will need to remove the complete coin slide, turn it over & remove the return spring. From there you can see what is hanging up. I have included the complete step by step instructions in the images provided below.
