Q:

Kenmore Elite front-loader snagging clothes 11049962603 Kenmore Elite Residential washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your washer. Upon researching model 11049962603; this is usually caused by overloading the washer; clothes will get trapped under the fins of the agitator causing tears. First thing to do is with a pair of stockings over your hand rub the basket down for any burrs that might snag something. Next with a flashlight check all the drum baffles. If one is cracked or loose then something might snag and tear. Check the door bellows. Pull back and check the crevices for anything odd. You seem sure the damage is done in the washer. I would also recommend check the dryer as well. The front load washers by design can't normally damage clothes unless they are overloaded or there is something sharp in the tub.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

CarlosZ, I have done the stockings, checked with a flashlight. The repairman who came checked the baffles and they were fine. Not sure what a fin is? I am positive that the damage is in the washer because I do not dry dri-fit, I hang it to dry. I have also just washed a few items, like my sons uniform, and the two shirts came out snagged up but the pants were fine. I did see online that people had problems with snagging of towels but I have not experienced that.

I have a front load Kenmore washer that is now about 8 years old. The same issue with snagging nylon and dri fit clothing has been happening also recently. I have inspected the drum and found that there are several small burrs on the metal surface. Most are near the back more so than the front. I was very surprised/disappointed and wonder what in the world would cause this. My daughters three brand new dance leotards and tights were snagged all over as well as her brand new band shirt. It was a very small load. Wow, what an expensive load of laundry.

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is not working properly.

Possible Causes/Procedure

1. Check for continuity of the User Interface harness.
2. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface
and the Central Control Unit.
3. If the drum is not rotating, unplug the MCU from the
CCU (the MI3 or M13 connector). If the code goes
away, then replace the MCU. If the code does not go
away, replace the CCU.
4. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating.

Possible Causes/Procedure
1. Verify that the shipping system, including shipping
bolts, spacers, and the power cord, are removed.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check drive motor tachometer resistance. It should
be approx. 115?.
4. Check wire harness connections between the drive
motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and
between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the
drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
