A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is not working properly.

I recommend running through a diagnostics test to see if it will calibrate and reset your control board.

• Make sure the power cord is plugged into a live electrical outlet.
• Make sure that fuse or circuit breaker are not blown; replace or reset if necessary.
• Close the door and push the START button to start the washer. The LED should change from flashing
to continuously on.
• The washer may be in a pause or soak period of a cycle. Wait briefly for the washer to start.
• Check for restricted drain system

Electronic Assemblies – Removal or Replacement
IMPORTANT: The CCU MUST be fully engaged because there is an accelerometer on the board, which can only operate correctly with a properly assembled CCU.

Q:

element lite stays on burner is off what part and number do i need to fix 7909421440D Kenmore Electric range

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your washer. Upon researching model 11047087600; this type of problem is caused by a failed (stuck) contact on one of the surface burner infinite switches. To diagnose this failure, a technician would

unplug the range

and access the infinite switches in the console by removing the upper back panel on the range. The technician would pull the wire connected to the P terminal of the infinite switch on the LF burner and dress pull it out of the way so that it does not contact the metal cabinet of the range or any other wires or contacts. The technician would then briefly plug the range back in to see if the "ELEMENT ON" light still stays on. If the light turns off with the P wire of the LF burner disconnected then the LF infinite burner switch needs to be replaced (with the range unplugged) to fix this problem. If the light stays on, then the range would be unplugged. The P wire would be replaced on the LF burner and the process would be repeated for the LR and RR burners. On the RF burner, the 4 and 4a wires would need to be pulled to diagnose this failure. Once the bad burner switch is identified, it will need to be replaced (with the range unplugged). The part number needed really depends on whitch one of the switches is found to be the cause of the problem.

NOTE: If you attempt to diagnose this failure yourself, be sure that you

unplug the range

when handling wires on the burner infinite switches and properly position the disconnected wires out of the way so that they do not short to other wires or the metal cabinet.

I trust this information will help you, have a great day.
