Q:

Where can I find a repair manual to help me resolve an F11 error code on a Kenmore washer?

A:

Your washer may still have a tech sheet stored behind the front service panel below the door. You can unplug the washer and remove this panel to see if the tech sheet is still there. If not, you can order a replacement tech sheet from Sears PartsDirect www.searspartsdirect.com using part number 8182677.

The tech sheet will provide an explanation of the fault codes and other technical information.

The following information is from the tech sheet for your washer:

The F11 indicates that communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

Here are the troubleshooting steps from the Tech Sheet:

  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect power.
  2. Check the wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and the CCU.
  3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
  4. Plug in the washer or reconnect power.
  5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle.
  6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
  7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
  8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Unless you can find a wiring harness problem, you may need to replace the MCU and/or CCU to correct this problem.

Resubmit your question with additional details if you need more help with this washer problem.

Q:

Kenmore Elite Washer F on display

A:

Was there a number next to that F code? If there was, you can go to the box in the upper right hand corner of this page and type in, "washer F 11" and hit the magnifying glass. You will then get many different links you can click on. Review the different answers you get. Otherwise, you've given us great information. Just write us back and tell us what number comes after the "F" or give us the exact symptoms you're experiencing. Hope this helps you and have a nice afternoon.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your washer should also be displaying a number along with the letter "F". Without knowing the number that is display along with the "F" I would not be able to decipher the fault code or provide any troubleshooting assistance. If it displays F/H, then it is not detecting water entering or it's taking to long to fill. I added a list of fault codes below. Check the hot and cold water flow to the washer.

So that's what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete fault code. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Dave: Based on the model number 110.45966401, it is a HE3t washer meaning it has a heating element which is used to boost the water temperature. Your washer will display a fault code if it's not able to drain water. Let the washer run and it should eventually display a fault code. Once it display the faulty code in the display, then we will have an idea of the failure. Fault code "F02" would mean it not draining or taking too long to drain. Fault code "F09" would indicate an overflow. If you hear the drain pump running and it's not draining any water or if it's draining slow, the drain pump filter is likely restricted with debris. The drain pump has a cover that can be remove for accessing and cleaning the drain pump filter. The front lower access panel located below the door can be easily removed in order to access the drain pump. Remove the screws along the bottom of the panel to remove. Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel. Be sure and remove all the water from the washer before removing the drain pump filter cap. If you have a wet/dry shop vacuum, connect the vacuum hose to the end of the drain hose and draw the water out before removing the drain pump filter cap. I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
