Q:

the drive belt on my elite washer is broke. the machine was making a terrible whining noise before it broke. Would the motor possibly be broken too? 11045091401 Kenmore Elite Residential washer

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the washer making noise.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 110.45091401.

The belt breaking shouldn't cause any effect on the motor.   The belt will cause a most terrible noise at times till it comes all the way apart and works no longer.   I would just look at the belt and change it.

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The problem can be solved by unplugging the electric from the wall outlet and turning off the water supply.  You can use a pail and lower the drain hose into the pail to insure most of the water is drained out.   Then use a Phillips screwdriver and remove the front lower panel.  When the lower panel is off, reach up on the right hand side of the washer, about ½ ways up, in the area where the door lock is you will find a lock release.

Pull the ring down and the door lock will release.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.
