Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering the machine, the valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Or; the control has not detected 10.5 gallons after 8 minutes of filling.

The "F/H" fault code will display if:

  • The water level pressure switch does not trip.
  • Water is not entering the washer
  • Flow meter is not detecting water coming in.
  • Water is siphoning out as its filling.

I recommend checking the hot and cold water supply coming into the washer. Turn the hot and cold water valves off and disconnect the hot and cold fill hoses from the washer. Place the hoses into a bucket and turn the hot and cold water on and confirm the water flow.

If you have good water pressure and volume, it could have a restriction in the cold and hold filter screens inside the port where the fill hoses connect. It could also have restricted air hose connected between the water level pressure switch and the bottom of the tub. The top and the front lower access panel have to come off in order to access the pressure switch air hose. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the top and lower access panel. The water level pressure switch is located at the top of the right hand side panel. Disconnect the air hose and blow into the hose to confirm it is not restricted or blocked. The flow meter can be tested but you will need an Ohm meter. It can be disconnected and checked while water is entering. The with the meter leads connected to the two terminals of the flow meter, the Ohm meter should show continuity off and on while filling. You may have to disconnect the flow meter hoses and blow gently through the flow meter to slow the impeller and sensor so the Ohm meter can react. If it spins too fast the Ohm meter may not detect the flow meter opening and closing.

I added images below to reference.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How do I repair a sticky inlet valve on a Kenmore Elite washer?

A:

Water inlet valves are not repairable; you will need to replace the inlet valve. The water inlet valve is part# 8181694. I added a link below to Sears Parts Direct with the water inlet valve looked up for you.

The inlet valve (key#1) is located on inner side of the rear panel. The main top must be taken off in order to remove and replace the water inlet valve. I added instruction how to remove the top in the image below. Before connecting the hot and cold fill hoses to the new inlet valve, place the ends of both hoses into the washer tub or bucket and turn both hot and cold faucets on in order to purge any debris from the line before connecting to the new water inlet valve. This can help prevent sediment from restricting the screens in the new valve as soon as the valve opens.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source and turn the hot and cold water supply off before removing the top and replacing the water inlet valve.
