Hello Greg and welcome back to ManageMyLife.com. Please ensure that the belt you have is a correct original equipment manufacturer part. The manufacturer part number for the belt is 8181670. If you have the correct belt, you may have a worn pulley. Please see the image below on your belt installation.

Thank-you for the diagrams. It was the original belt on there before it slipped off to the inside, towards the basket. It looks like the motor is positioned closer towards the front of machine compared to the position of the basket. If you look at the side view, it looks like belt and pulley at a slight angle towards the back of the washer. Are the pulley and the motor pulley supposed to be vertical? Thanks

A:

Hello Greg! No, the belt pulley and motor pulley will not align vertically as the motor is located to the bottom side. If you are just trying to put back the belt that was on it in the first place and you are not using a new replacement belt, please ensure that your belt is not damaged, stretched or worn in any way. This will prevent proper placement of the belt.

Thanks, got the belt on, spins and runs through the cycle ok, but when the tub spins it squeaks and groans, almost like a bearing is bad. Does the pulley cause that squeak? Greg

A:

Welcome back to ManageMyLife.com, Greg! The squeaking can be caused by the pulley, bearing or suspension springs. If the squeaking happens throughout the wash load, it is most likely the bearing. Try pushing on the tub to listen for the noise. Then, try spinning the tub by hand. If the noise persists when you spin the tub, it will be likely the bearing. If it is squeaking and groaning when you push on the tub, it it likely the suspension. Try to pinpoint exactly where the noise is loudest to find out what parts are around that area that can be troubleshooted.
I recommend contacting a technician regarding bearing problems as this is not a normal do-it-yourself project. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services

Hello Greg! The bearing is a part of the rear tub and is not sold seperately from that tub. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can view this part. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.

Q:

Drive belt 11044931301 Kenmore Elite Automatic washer horizontal axis

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem you are having with your Kenmore 110.44931301 Front Load Washer.   The image below contains the instructions and tips to change the belt.  This may be helpful to you.  The usual suspect when the belt comes off is the large motor pulley.  The pulley may be wobbling and need to be replaced.  The bearing may be going bad but usually you hear a bad bearing first.  REmove the belt or after it comes off check the pulley and see if it wobbles or if the screw is loose.  I hope this information is helpful.  You can also have the problem checked and repaired in your home by a Sears technician.  Here is the link: Sears Home Services .
