Q:

I guess my question is lost in space.....but I still would like to know why does my Kenmore model 110.44182401 compact washer will not rinse and spin and only allows one temperature of water to be ...

A:

From the description of your problem this is most likely a control board problem and not a water valve problem.

If you're comfortable and confident with do-it-yourself projects there are some things to check for this problem.

First the water fill problem where both valves will work individually but not together. You can select and get cold water and you can select and get hot water but when you select warm nothing happens. If this is correct then the water valve and pressure switch are okay and the problem is most likely with the control board. See the 1st image below for a picture of the fill circuit.

Warm water fills are for the wash cycle and at the beginning of the wash cycle is where you'll want to check this problem. Rinse fills will be cold water and you won't usually see both hot and cold water valves turn on in the rinse part of the cycle.

If the cold water fills in wash but doesn't fill in the rinse cycle after the water drains out then its possible the pressure switch is at fault. After the water drains out the pressure switch must reflect the tub is empty to allow a rinse fill. Suds or obstructions in the clear plastic air dome hose can cause this problem. A potential fix for this is with the tub empty of water remove the hose and blow through it towards the tub. It should blow freely and you might even hear some bubbles from the sump if the line is clear. If you can't blow through it the air dome is clogged or the hose is kinked.

The washer doesn't spin and just clicks when it gets to the spin cycle and the lights start to flash is the other problem you have with this washer.

The lights flashing may be indicating an error code. The control boards used today are suppose to be smart enough to tell us what is wrong and it should display a code telling us what the control thinks is wrong.

The 2nd image contains information on how to read the flashing lights and how to enter and run a test cycle so all individual functions can be checked. It will check water valves, pressure switch, drain pump, agitation and the spin cycle.

Read the instructions and try to run the test to get a better idea of what is causing your problem. If all components work the control is most likely what is causing your problem.

Parts are available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

The 3rd image below shows how to raise the top and access the control and pressure switch.

I hope this information helps resolve this problem but if the test bring up additional questions then please submit another question with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.

Q:

My Kenmore Compact Washer, Model # 110.44182401 will not rinse and spin, also it only allows one temperature of water to be used at a time. What could be the problem?

A:

In reference to your Kenmore Compact Washer, Model # 110.44182401

Most rinse cycles fill with cold water. If the cold water is off the timer will not advance. If no hot water is coming into machine, this can also cause the problem and a new water valve would need to be installed. You can purchase a new water valve at searspartsdirect.com
