Q:

washingmachine 11029727800 Kenmore Residential washer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 11029727800 and from your description I would suspect the timer being the problem. Some machines have a load sensor that allows the machine to function when a load is sensed. This model does not use such sensor leaving the timer as the suspect. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the washer will agitate but will not spin, the issue you're experiencing could be with the lid switch (285753A) or the drive motor coupling (8318084). I recommend bypassing the lid switch to see if it'll spin. To bypass the lid switch, unplug the washer and open the console (image one). Once you have the console open, locate the connector for the lid switch. Place an insulated piece of wire between the white and grey colored wires, not the green wire it's a ground and will cause a short. After inserting the bypass make sure it will not touch anything metal, plug the washer in and start a cycle. If the washer spins you'll need to replace the lid switch. You can check the drive motor coupling to see if it's worn or damaged. If it is, it'll need replacement. You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site.  I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

A:

Tim, based off the new information, the issue you're experiencing could be with the clutch or the transmission. Try spinning the tub with your hand. If the tub spins freely, then the issue will be with the transmission (3360629). If it's locked up, then the issue will be with the clutch (285785). One of two will need replacement. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

I checked the tub spin - it does not spin freely nor is it locked up. It turns, but takes a lot of effort to make it spin. The agitator part of the wash cycle works normally. Is the clutch used for the agitator, or just the spin cycle?
