Hi Derrick,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

It is unlikely that this oil is coming from the gearcase, the spots could be oil migrating up from the gear case or it could be residue breaking loose from the inner walls of the outer tub and depositing on the clothes. The use of liquid fabric softener and liquid soap can cause oily deposits on clothing. Wipe the inside of the spin basket. Check for signs of softener/suds residue.

In order to determine where the oil stains are coming from you may have to disassemble your washer. Here is a video that demonstrates this; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The washer in this video may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

Thank you for a good description of the problem. The basketdrive clutch engagement cam (gear) & clip keep coming off because the shaft of the basketdrive is damaged where the c-clip clips on. If the groove for the clip is damaged it will fall out of position during operation. You will need to replace the basketdrive assembly to correct this problem. The new part will come assembled with the cam & clip.

Have been trying for days to log back in... can't reset password... suspect account is corrupted... generated new account to get back in. The information was helpful... ordered the recommended part... due in about 30 days. Discovered there was a considerable amount of wear on the end of the bearing that holds the C clip... installed a buffer bearing, and used a ring clip instead... machine back online, but not sure for how long... waiting for the new part. This area of the machine is a poor design... Thanks
