Q:

Tub won't fill and start agitation 11027532600 Kenmore Residential washers

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 11027532600 and based on your symptom the water is siphoning out of the drain hose. Check the drain hose routing. The drain also should not fit so tight that air cannot be draw in between the end of the drain hose the stand pipe. You do not want an air tight fit. Also, do not stuff the drain hose no further than 12 inches. The washer is draining out because the drain hose is too low to the ground. You can't just lay the hose down and connect it or stuff into a floor drain or water will gravity drain. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Thank you, Sherman. The drain hose is about 2 feet off the ground and feeds into a wall drain that is raised. It does not connect to or touch the ground. Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Q:

water leak 11027532600 Kenmore Residential washers

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, value your service.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is parts needed for the washing machine because of a water leak.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Kenmore washer model number 11027532600.

When the water leaks from the top, that usually means the gasket for the tub ring has gone bad.  I have a picture of it below.  The best thing to do is order the dotted block, key number 8.   This way you get a new tub ring and gasket with the gasket already installed.

Tub ring and gasket for the model 11027532600.

This is a really tough one because your timer goes thru the entire cycle but it never rinses or spins. Since it will rinse or spin when you manually turn it to the spin cycle my guess is your transmission is ok. Having said that I think your problem is electrical which can be your timer or your motor, my guess is that it is your motor since you did get an electrical smell when you put it on rinse. I would suggest you look on craigslist for a technician to come out and look at it.

I'd like to test the motor myself, I had electronics, but that was 20 years ago and I never used it. I'm not sure what results I'm looking for. Which switches in the timer should be closed and at what point in the cycle do those switches close? Am I looking for a problem with the Low, High or Start of the motor. Is this a reversible motor? Another thing I'd like to point out - the owner had bypassed the lid switch with a piece of wire and there must have been some bare wire exposed because when I first looked at the washer, the connector what totally melted with a little piece of wire hanging out of it. I had to fix that before I could begin testing anything else.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. Based on the symptoms you are having I would suspect the problem it the timer. If the timer does not pause the motor before it closes the contact to reverse the motor it could cause the motor to smoke. When you lift the lid or push in on the timer, it allows the motor to pause and change directions. Without making any checks I recommend replacing the timer. The part number for the timer is 8579446 and can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

I have provided you with the instructions for replacing the timer below. Please make sure to unplug the timer before attempting any repair of the washer.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Here is a link to order any parts you need. Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I ordered the timer switch and went on vacation while I waited for the part to come in. Once it arrived, I went to the house and had no problem replacing it. Thank you for the attached diagrams! The washer ran through every cycle with no problem! The owner was very happy! Again I can't thank you enough for all your help.
