Q:

D5 code 11027062600 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is not working properly.

Suds Detection
Sd is displayed when the machine/motor
control, by analyzing drag on the basket,
detects a suds-lock condition, and is steady
on while the control then runs a mini-clean
out cycle. If the clean out cycle is unable to
correct the over-sudsing problem, the cycle
ends and Sd flashes in the display. This may
signify:
? Load is bunched or twisted around agitator.
? Excessive detergent usage.
? Basket cannot engage during drain step.
? Mechanical friction on drive mechanism,
not allowing basket to engage.

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the F51 error code you're receiving on the washer. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

This error could mean a few things. The first thing to check is if your serial number falls within CT48 thru CU01. If it falls within that range, you will want to check for a hand written "R" on the control near the part number. If it has the "R", the board has been updated and it would be another type of failure. If there isn't an "R", the machine control board needs replacement. The part number is W10189966.

If there is an "R" or if the serial number doesn't fall within that range, the F-51 error code on this washer indicates that the machine control board in the console detects a motor RPS (Rotor Position Sensor -- tachometer) failure. This can be caused by a number of different problems. You could have a bad RPS sensor, a failed motor, a wire harness connection problem or an item stuck between the spin basket and the outer tub that is interfering with spin basket rotation.

A water filling problem could also cause this code to be displayed since the basket would have excessive friction if water is not entering the machine properly. With the washer off, spin the basket to see if it rotates freely. If you detect resistance or suspect that an item is stuck between the basket and the outer tub, you will likely need to remove the basket and check this area.

If the basket spins freely, make sure that your water supply cut-off valves are fully open. Shut off the water supply and remove the hoses from the connections on the back of the washer. Place the ends of the hoses in a bucket and briefly turn on the water supply to check the flow and water pressure coming from the end of the hoses. Check the inlet water valve screens for deposits or debris that could interfere with the water fill. The motor will begin to spin the basket before the washer completes the filling function. If the filling is slow, it could cause the F-51.

If the water supply is okay, you could have a wire harness connection problem, failed RPS sensor or a number of other failures. In situations such as this, we would strongly recommend having a service technician help assist with the diagnosis and repair.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
