Question and Answers

Q:

Washer is holding 11026954690 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more then happy to assist you.

If water isn’t entering the washer, make sure that the water supply faucets are fully open. Check the fill hoses for kinks or freezing (in the winter). Check the inlet water valve screens for debris or deposits.

Replace the inlet water supply valve assembly if the screens are clogged. If water is entering the tub but not being detected properly, then check the air hose between the bottom of the tub and the connection on the main electronic control board.

If the air hose connection is okay, replace the main electronic control board (the water level sensor is a component of the main electronic control board).

Q:

Why does my Kenmore Series 90 washer display "OL" in the spin cycle?

A:

On this washer, the "OL" indicates an open lid. Check to see if the plunger on the lid is activating the switch mounted on the underside of the top washer panel. If the plunger is engaging the switch properly, try the washer again in the rinse and spin modes to see if the OL fault is still displayed. If it is, then you may have a lid switch failure, a wiring problem or a failed control board. If you are able to unplug the washer and open up the console, you can check the lid switch. NOTE: You should only attempt this procedure if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely access the lid switch. Because this washer has an electronic control, I don't have specific directions on releasing the console. This step would be needed to access the lid switch in order to check it. If you can use the parts diagram below to release the console, you may be able to access the cabinet clips and access the lid switch. Otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to access and test the switch. You may find screws on the front corners of the console that secure it to the top panel. If you are able to open the console, you can check the lid switch with a volt/ohm meter if you have one. The method for testing the lid switch is shown in the second image below. The third image shows how to release the cabinet so that you can access the lid switch. These tips may help you resolve this washer problem.

If you are not able to access and check or replace the lid switch yourself, the washer will need service or you may consider replacing it.

Q:

Why is my washer not starting?

A:

The “OL” error code indicates an open lid. The washers main control board senses the lid is open or the lid was not opened after the last cycle was completed. I would recommend checking the lid switch & make sure the lid is in position to strike the lid switch. You should hear the click from the lid switch as the lid is raised & lowered. Other possibilities; control board or wiring harness failure.
