Question and Answers

Q:

Why does the Downy fabric softener still leak out of the port holes in my Kenmore Elite Total Care System washer model 110.26944503 after the cycle is completed?

A:

Follow the steps on pages 5 and 6 of your owner's manual to remove the fabric softener dispenser from the top of the agitator and clean it thoroughly. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual . The image below shows a photograph of the types of dispensers that this model of washer will typically have. This may help you in the cleaning process. You indicated that you already cleaned the port holes. If you did not already remove and clean the dispenser as described above, removing it and cleaning it along with the inside of the agitator below the dispenser may clear up any restriction that is keeping the fabric softener from dispensing properly.

Downy and other fabric softeners can be thick and may not flow as quickly as it needs to in order to dispense properly. If the Downy fabric softener that you are using fits this description, I recommend that you try diluting it with some warm water when you add it to the dispenser. This will likely help it flow better and may resolve your problem.
