Q:

Coupler Replaced - Machine still not spinning 11026922500 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you set the timer to spin and start the washer and it does not spin, lift the lid and let the motor come to a stop and then shut the lid. If the basket does not spin, and the motor is running, I suspect it could have a worn clutch assembly or possibly a broken brake release lever on the basket drive.

In order to access the clutch assembly and to see and check the brake lever will require removing the agitator, taking the cabinet off and the pump and motor. Once the pump and motor and agitator have been removed, the gear case can be dropped down and removed after removing the gear case mounting bolts.

I added a couple images below to reference. To remove the agitator, remove the fabric dispenser cup and then pull the barrier cap off. Use a 1/2" drive ratchet and a 1/2" extension and place the square end of the extension down in the 1/2" square recessed area and remove the spring retainer by turning it counter clockwise. Once the spring retainer is taken out, the agitator can be lifted up and off. Grasp the bottom of the agitator and pull upwards.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
