Q:

Long/short Spin Cycles run but clothes reamain very wet regardless of the cycle time. 11026852502 Kenmore Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help you. Upon researching model 11026852502 I found a couple easy things to check. I posted a link to the manual below. Page 9 on the bottom left is load too wet info. Try that first and if it isn't that it could be the spin or the drain. The drain could not be draining enough water before it goes into the spin cycle. You can check the drain hose it could have some lint build up and not letting enough water drain. Check the motor coupling if worn it will not be spinning the transmission enough.

Click here for diagram. Number 22 is pump.  The coupling is number 13.

If you have any further questions please re-post. Thank you for choosing Sears. Have a great day.

John – Thank you for writing to ManageMyLife.com about your Kenmore washer. I am so sorry I failed to realize your initial question hadn’t been answered. Thank you for writing back. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link for you to view the parts diagrams for your washer online. That way you will be able to see the parts I will be discussing.

Parts Diagram for Kenmore Washer Model 11026852502.

Based on the symptoms you described, there are a couple of possible causes. You mentioned that it sounds like the washer is spinning, but it actually isn’t. Does it agitate during the cycle? If it is not doing either, then you most likely need to replace the motor coupling. They are three small parts that are on the shaft between the motor and the gear case. (Please see key 13 on the Brake, Clutch, Gear case, Motor and Pump Parts Diagram.) These parts are made to break away if the basket is overloaded or off-balance. They protect the motor from burning itself out trying to move that basket. Sometimes instead of breaking, the center part of the coupling could stretch, which would explain why you can sometimes start the basket spinning by hand. If the coupling has stretched, it will need to be replaced. I have included that link for you.

Motor Coupling for Kenmore Washer Model 11026852502.

If the motor coupling is okay, then I recommend you check the actuator that releases the brake. You could also have a worn clutch or damaged clutch spring. When the clutch drum spins, the end of the clutch spring must hit the brake release actuator. When the brake is released the basket starts turning. The individual parts of the brake assembly are on the Brake and Drive Tube Parts diagram. Key 9 is the brake spring and key 11 is the brake release cam. I have included the link to order the cam. Unfortunately the spring is no longer available. If you need to replace the spring you will need to order the Brake and Drive Tube assembly. I have included those links for you also.

The clutch assembly is key 5 on the Brake, Clutch, Gear case, Motor and Pump Parts Diagram. I have included the link to order that part also.

Once you have completed your repair, I recommend you also do some preventative maintenance. A washer’s inlet hoses should be replaced every 5 years to prevent a water leak from a burst hose. I have included the link for the upgraded polymer braided hoses. They normally last 10 years.

Thank you for your quick response John. Most repairs on your Kenmore washer are fairly easy do-it-yourself projects. Your washer is designed for in-place repairs. The front cabinet will come off for you to have easy access to all the parts. I will be happy to help you with this.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply to the washer before you begin your repair project to prevent the risk of electrical shock. Also, please keep in mind that internal part of the appliance may have sharp edges that can cause serious injury. Please use caution and wear heavy gloves if possible.

The first part to check is the motor coupling, and this is definitely a fairly easy project. I found a link to a previous conversation that will outline the steps for you really well. Just please keep in mind that your model is slightly different so some parts may be a little different. I have included the link for you. Click here

If you feel you need more step-by-step instructions with color photographs, I recommend investing in a repair manual. I have included that link for you also.

Thank you for the additional information John. Since it agitates, then I recommend you check the brake release. The brake must release for the basket to spin. I have included a link for you to view a video on this repair.

I hope this helps. Of course, if I can do anything else for you, please respond back to this thread. Thank you again for choosing Sears.

Thanks for the inquiry about your washer model 110.26852502, I will be glad to assist you with this issue. The washer not draining properly could be caused by a couple things, first check the drain line behind the washer, look for a kinked hose, inspect the hose for clogging, and be sure it fits loosely into the household drain pipe. If the hose is okay then the problem is most likely the pump. The pump is located inside the cabinet and is a direct connect to the motor. These are the two most common reasons this model does not drain. I will attach a link to the pump for your convenience should you determine it is needed.  Pump CompleteTheses would apply if the washer is going through the cycles properly; if the cycles are not operating there could be any other number of issues.   If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
