Q:

What part failed in the washer to cause it to over flow the tub?

A:

I do not have enough details informing me how you had to stop the water from filling. If the water shut off when you pushed the timer in, that would indicate the water valve did not stick open. The failure is most likely caused by the pressure switch hose being pulled off the water level pressure switch. The pressure switch hose could also have a pin hole in it causing the over flowing tub, or the water level pressure switch stuck in the fill mode. The water level switch must open violet (V) and pink (P) contacts in the switch to stop the water from filling.

In order to access the pressure switch will require putting the console in the service position as shown in the second image.

  • First, disconnect the power cord from the power source.

  • The console (key#26) will need to be placed in the service position by removing two hidden (2) screws, one (1) screw located at the bottom of the left hand end cap (key#7) and one (1) screw located at the bottom of the right hand end cap (key#10). (See 1st image)

  • In order to access the two (2) screws hidden under the left hand end cap trim (key#8) and under the right hand end cap trim (key#11)the two (2) end cap trim pieces will need to be removed.

  • To remove the trim (key#8&11), place you finger behind the trim at the very top and bend it up enough to clear the console and then hinge it towards the front and off. (See 3rd image below)

  • Remove the hidden screw under each end cap trim. Slide the console forwards about 1/4 inch and the raise it upwards and hinge it over the rear panel. (See 2nd image)

Reverse the procedure to re-assemble the washer.
