Question and Answers

Q:

My washer will not do the final spin Model 11024084200 do you recommend replacing the control board or the water pump

A:

Having your washer not finish its final cycle is very inconvenient since the clothes will stay sloppy wet. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem. I hope my link is useful.

The LD error indicates a long drain. This might mean replacing the pump but I'm not clear if it is draining or not.

The control is reading a pressure switch to determine if this error needs to be displayed.

The pressure switch might be the cause of the error code.

First thing I'd suggest is making sure the washer will drain out.

Make sure there are no suds in the water.

Check the pressure switch hose for twists or kinks that might cause this error.

The first image below shows how to enter the test mode and how to run a drain and spin test.

The 2nd image shows how to access the pressure switch. Please note that some models only had one pressure switch. Remember to unplug the washer first.

I hope this information is helpful to you. You can reply with any additional information for further assistance.

Thank you for your responses. I have done the test and water drains out, but it will not perform the final spin to eliminate the water from the load. I am left with a load of sopping wet clothes. The pump does make alot of noise during the test. Do you have any other recommendations? I have had a repair man look at the machine and he is hesitant to replace the pump fearing that the control board may be the issue. I will suggest the pressure switch to him and would welcome any other ideas you may have. Thank you

Try and run a rinse, drain and spin cycle. You say the water drained out in the test but it didn't spin. Note that in the diagnostic test or drain and spin it only will spin at about 40 RPM which will not spin the clothes out. If you still don't get a high speed spin then the control is a possible cause.

The problem with the washer is the screen to your Pump is plugged up. Remove the lower panel on your washer and remove the pump. There is a screen that catchs stuff before it ruins the Pump. You probaly have a sock or small peice of fabric stuck in the screen. Clean this out and all is fixed! Also buy a back that you put small clothing in before your next wash. These backs are sold at walmart and will prevent fabrics, Socks etc. from plugging up your Front Load Washer. Also why you are at it, remove the same lower front panel on your front Load dryer and clean it out too. You should clean both out at least twice a year.

There is no screen but lint can build up and restrict the drain. Garment bags are go ideans for smaller items.

Pump was removed, there wasn't anything plugging it. I do use the netted garment bags for small items and delicate items. I just tried the 'Express Wash' and had the same results, water drains but no final spin. Sooooo....would you advise the control panel be replaced, and if so, this machine has two control boards. Would #8542693 be the correct control board to replace? I anxiously await any advise and thank you for your previous efforts.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but the water pumping out but the washer not spinning can have several causes and I hate to see a control ordered by mistake. If the drain motor and wash motor both work then the motor control board is most likely okay and the problem is with the main control. Below is one more test I suggest you try to run. It only last 99 seconds but at the last it should spin 500 RPM. If it still fails to spin then I suggest changing the machine control 8571359 for this problem.

Okay - I performed this last test and it did spin faster, but the clothes are still sopping wet. Do you think that the control board #8571359 is the answer? It did drain, it did agitate but the clothes did not spin dry. Thanks

Q:

Kenmore Elite Washer 11024084200 error code CI/CA 11024084200

A:

Just wanted to add some more information, hoping that would generate some ideas. While knocking around my washer, I tried to turn the spin basket, and noticed that it was really hard to spin. That led me to believe that the problem was likely mechanical, and not electrical. I went ahead and opened the front panel, and jiggled the motor and the belt a bit. I also turned the belt manually a few rotations, and it seemed to turn fairly easily. Then, being out of ideas, I tried the spin cycle again: lo and behold, it worked! Yet, as the front panel was still open, I believe I could hear some unusual and intermittent friction noise. So my new question is: what mechanical parts should I look at more closely, in order to identify the problem? Your suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com. I do apologize for the delay in answering your question.

You are correct both CI and CA stand for current limit. Current limits means that the washer is over loaded. Try washing a small load to see if you still get the same error code.

Please let me know what you find.

I look forward to working with you.
Thanks for visiting SearsPartsDirect.com

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your washer. From what youre describing on this model of washer with the symptoms you described you should have an error code being displayed. If you did not have an error code or cannot recall the latest stored error codes several component checks will need performed using special meters. It sounds like you are correct to suspect something is getting hot and shutting the unit down or another possibility; is a loose wiring harness connection somewhere. Something like this could be the drive motor, motor control board or main control board. I recommend calling for service on this type of diagnosis. Please see the images provided below for more testing and instructions. Be sure to disconnect power to the washer before attempting repairs. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, just click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services . As for the service/repair manual, at this time we don't not have one available in the PDF file online. If you would like one, you will need to order it. You can do so from this link: Sears Parts Direct . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
