nope, doesn't help at all. it isn't stopping on it's own during the middle of the cycle. i was just running a couple of the cycles to make sure the water wasn't leaking at the hookups.

Thank you for adding the model number. From the description you give the washer is spinning okay but when it stops it stops aggressively moving the whole cabinet.

This usually indicates a problem with the brake and/or clutch.

Since the problem happened after a move I suspect something (dust/dirt) fell into the brake area. One thing you might try is letting the machine spin and stop it a few times and see if the problem improves.

You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Fred, yes you are correct. spins fine, but stops suddenly when the lid is lifted, or the cycle ends. we needed clothes washed the other night, so we ran a half load through. worked fine. been using it since with no problems. so maybe it just needed some weight in it? it seemed to me that the clutch was still engaged and when the motor stopped turning, so did the tub, causing the whole unit to move around.

The brake most likely had something on it causing it to stop so suddenly. Sometimes the something causing the problem can move and no longer cause the problem.

The centerpost gasket is the main seal but I would expect more water if it was leaking. If the leak seems to be out from the middle it might be some water is splashing up on the tub cover and then leaking over the side. There is also a bleach hose that connects to the side of the outer tub. Another possibility is the water inlet system for fill. The washer can be ran in agitation with the cabinet removed. With the cabinet off you might have a better chance locating the leak. Let me know if this something you'd like to try.

Q:

Washer will not spin. 11023832100 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore washer.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your washer malfunction, after researching model number 110.23832100. I would suggest checking into the washer’s lid switch and motor coupler. These parts are what will cause the washer to not spin. The motor coupler is what connects the motor to the gear case allowing it to spin. It acts like a belt, so if these gears strip it won’t engage to spin the washer. The lid switch acts like a safety feature on the unit. if the washer thinks it’s open it won’t allow the spin cycle to start. Below I have linked ways to test the parts to see if they solve your issue. the part# for the coupler is 285753A. The part# for the lid switch is 3949238.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

*Safety disclaimer before you try and repair the unit make sure the power supply is disconnected. There may be sharp parts to the unit that can cause injury to you if not careful.
