Q:

Washer not spinning 11023722200 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

We changed out the gearcase and now it seems to spin just fine. Now we have a different problem that we did not have before we changed the gearcase: When the agitation part of the wash or rinse cycle has finished, the washer stops and we don't even hear the timer going like we're supposed to. It just sits there, full of water, instead of continuing with the cycle.

Q:

Washer Problem 11023722200 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Most likely the failure is a broken lid switch assembly. When the lid is closed it must strike and close the safety lid switch. The lid switch must close a contact to complete the lid switch circuit in order for the motor to run during the drain and spin cycle. The lid switch is located under the top. In order to access the washer cabinet will have to be removed. When the lid is almost in the fully closed position you should hear a faint click of the safety lid switch closing. If you do not hear the faint click, most likely the lid switch is broken.

If the washer will spin then the lid switch and motor are most likely okay.

If the washer will spin but not agitate then I suspect the problem is with the timer or water level switch.

To agitate the water level switch must close the violet to tan contact. This can be checked with a meter after the water fill has stopped. Unplug the washer first and check if there is a circuit between violet and tan terminals.

The images below will assist you in accessing the water level switch and timer. Remember to unplug the washer first.

If the water level switch is working but there is no agitation then the timer is most likely at fault.
