I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your washer. Based on your symptom and details the agitate dogs need to be removed and replaced. In order to access and replace the agitate dogs you will need to remove remove the barrier cap. Remove the spring retainer using the male end of a 1/2" drive ratchet extension. Place the male end of the 1/2" drive extension into the spring retainer and remove it by turning it counterclockwise (CCW). Once you have the spring retainer taken off, lift the auger off and place one hand over the top and flip it over and the cam will drop into your hand. Hold the cam upside down and place the new agitate dogs in there places on the cam while holding it upside down. After placing the agitate dogs in position, flip the auger upside down and place it down over the cam. Hold the cam in place and then flip the auger upright and place the auger back on the agitator. Place the spring and spring retainer back over the cam and tighten the spring retainer using the 1/2" drive ratchet extension. Note: Do not over tighten the spring retainer. Snap the barrier cap on and then test operation. The agitate dogs come in a package of 4. You can order the agitate dogs part number 80040 from Sears Parts Direct and have them shipped directly to you. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. The coupler links the motor to the transmission instead of using a belt. When the coupler breaks, the washer will not agitate or spin and often will make an unusual noise. To verify the problem, I recommend starting the washer in a wash cycle. After the washer fills, check to see if the washer is agitating. If it is not, the motor coupler is likely the cause. The part number for the coupler is 285753A and can be ordered from our website Sears Parts Direct .

To replace the coupler unplug the washer first. Then use the images below to access the coupler. Use a screwdriver to pry off the rest of the old coupler. Then tap the new coupler onto the shafts with a deep well socket and a hammer. The parts of the coupler should be flush with the end of the shafts. Then reassemble the washer in the reverse order.

I have also found a video that will give you more confidence in repairing the washer yourself. Please click here to watch the video .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
