Question and Answers

Q:

Capacity in cubic inches of ken ore washer 11021892000 Kenmore Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

I do apologize we do not have the capacity of this washer. You will need to measure the washer to determine the capacity.

Calculate Washer Tub capacity

This is a geometric method to calculate tub capacity based on the cylinder volume formula. Unfortunately, the value could be as much as 25% off from the manufacturer stated capacity.

Why? Because the tub is not exactly a cylinder. The edge where bottom connected to the wall is not at 90 degree angle but smooth and rounded. The water line is not clearly marked and the bottom is not always flat. Finally, an agitator also takes capacity away from the tub.

This method can be used as a crude estimate but we do not recommend using it for comparisson when shopping for a new washer.

Determine your washer tub capacity by taking two simple measurements:

Top Loading Washer Tub Capacity Measurements

1. Use the ruler to measure the depth of the tub (indicated by the red line on the diagram)

2. Now find the distance accross the tub, the diameter (the green line on the diagram). Note that some tubs are narrow on top. In this case make the measurements INSIDE the tub.

Solution:

Tub Depth: in.   Tub Diameter: in.

Q:

washer water not draining 11021892000 Kenmore Washer

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com. I do apologize for the delay in answering your question.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your washer. By what you have stated, it sounds like a lid switch failure. The lid switch has to be closed for the drain and spin cycle on your washer to work. If the lid switch is faulty, it will fill and wash but nothing else. A quick check you can do is to jump the lid switch and see if it will drain. If the washer operates, the lid switch needs to be replaced. To jump the lid switch you need to unplug the washer and open the console. I have provided you with the instructions for opening the console below. Once you have the console open, locate the connector for the lid switch. Place an insulated jumper between the two colored wires. Not the green it is a ground and will cause a short. After inserting the jumper make sure it will not touch anything metal, plug the washer in. Start the washer in a drain cycle. If the washer drains and spins, you need to replace the lid switch. Do not leave the jumper in while you are waiting for the part. The jumper is only of the test.

To you replace the lid switch you have to remove the cabinet of the washer. The instructions for that are also in the image below. Once the cabinet is removed you can take the screws out securing the lid switch and remove the harness from the clips along the underside of the cabinet. Then reinstall the lid switch in the reverse order.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. If the washer will operate during the wash cycle but not operate at all when it should drain or spin, the lid switch is likely faulty or a just a loose wire connection in the lid switch circuit.

If the lid switch is working you should hear a faint click whenever the lid is raised about an inch and then click again when fully shut. If you do not hear the faint click each time the lid is raised and lowered, the lid switch is likely faulty.

In order to access the lid switch the washer cabinet must be taken off. The console must first be placed in the service position by removing the left and right hand end cap covers. See image below. Remove the screw located under each end cap cover. Slide the control panel towards the front of the washer and lift it up and hinge it over the rear panel. Follow the instructions in the second image below to remove the cabinet. The lid switch is accessible from under the cabinet. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before placing the console in the service position.
