Question and Answers

Q:

Washing machine wont spin / drain 11021082000 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer will not spin or drain. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist  you.

. The lid has to be closed for the motor to run on your washer. If the lid switch is faulty, it will act as if the lid is not closed. On this model, make sure the lid hinge screws are tight. If the screws are loose, the hinge might not activate the lid switch.

A quick check you can do is to run a cycle with the lid switch jumped. If the washer operates, the lid switch need to be replaced.

To jump the lid switch you need to unplug the washer and open the console. I have provided you with the instructions for opening the console below. Once you have the console open, locate the connector for the lid switch. Place an insulated jumper between the gray and white wires. Not the green it is a ground and will cause a short. After inserting the jumper make sure it will not touch anything metal, plug the washer in. start the washer in a cycle, and let it go. If the washer completes the cycle, you need to replace the lid switch. Do not leave the jumper in while you are waiting for the part.

Let me know if this helps.

Q:

I need the instructions to install anew washer plate 11021082000 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for your question. I am sorry instructions did not come with the part. I will be happy to help. The instructions below should help complete this project.

Unplug the washer and lift the top panel to the service position.  There are pressure clips holding the top of washer.  A putty knife or flat screwdriver will work. Disconnect fresh water inlet from tub ring.  Unsnap the tabs that hold the tub ring to the tub. Lay ring aside. Using a flat bladed screw driver, release the three tabs that secure the balance ring to the basket. Separate the dome from the wash plate by using two flat bladed screwdrivers in the notches provided to lift the dome.  Remove the screws holding the outer wash plate to the basket and remove wash plate. Replace wash plate and reverse order. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I understand how confusing it can be to have an error code with no explanation. This particular error code is explained in the link below. Basically the CL indicates that there was too much current drawn from the motor and was tripped. This could be a problem with the motor or associated parts. It could also just be due to an overload. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Check that the washer is not overloaded or unbalanced. If the problem returns, I would recommend having a technician perform further tests. You can schedule a Sears technician here; Sears Home Services .

If you do feel confident working on the washer and would like additional diagnostic information, please reply back. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

As i stated I have replaced the motor, motor controller and the universal joint. I'm running the machine empty so it can't be overloaded or off balance.

I did see you had replaced the parts associated with this issue. I have also dove in to my washer in the past, replacing parts, only to find it was something very basic I should have checked. Since you did also verify those issues, the only two things left are to check the thermal protector or the motor wiring harness. I have attached the schematics to help check these. I hope this helps nail down the problem. You have spent a good deal of money on parts, even though you are saving on labor. If you decide it is time to check a new washer, the link below is a good place to start. Please reply if further information is needed.

A:

The thermal protectors for the pump and motor drive is part of the wiring harness. That is part number 8299818 and the cost is $100.08. You can view in the above image and can order at the link below. Before ordering, you can test the wiring harness to check for an open connection. That would help to confirm if this is the area of failure. I have also asked another expert with years of experience to look over this post. Another set of eyes is always a good idea. I will check back with you if other information is provided.
