Question and Answers

Q:

No power

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Is the power cord firmly plugged into a live circuit with proper voltage?

The voltage supply should be tested first to make sure the wall outlet is working. You can test the wall outlet by unplugging the washer and plugging in some other small electrical appliance or tool. If the wall out has voltage, the voltage supply at the control board will need to be measured and confirmed and if proper voltage is measured across the Black and White wires connected at p16 connector. If 120 volts is measured, then touch pad/control panel will need to be tested with an Ohm meter as shown in the image I added below.

I added an image below with the diagnostic steps. NOTE: I do not recommend making any voltage measurements unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your Calypso washer.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Jeffrey: At P16 connector, the voltage supply comes into the washer across pin 4 (black wire) and pin 2 (white wire) and not out. If you measure 120 volts across pins 2 and 4 the machine board is getting the proper voltage. If you are not able to cancel the air dry setting, the control panel will need to be replaced. See the image I provided earlier and you will the black and white wire coming off the line filter, this is where the power supply comes into the machine board. Voltage out to the motor control out of P16 is the BK/WH wire and WH/BU wires once the AC NUE and SW relay closes on the machine board. The main concern is that the control panel will not cancel out meaning the control panel is faulty.

Q:

Kenmore Elite washer displays 7; locked up; won't run or start

A:

Trying to get the laundry done and experiencing problems out of the blue can be discouraging. I was able to locate a similar question that may provide some help while you wait for the expert response. I also added the online owner's manual which has some troubleshooting tips. I hope some of this information helps start the wash.

Hi Pedro,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

This is most likely an issue caused by a faulty control. Here is what the service manual states, If no washer function is activated when a particular touchpad is pressed: If the associated LEDs do light up, it is possible that the control board has failed. Check touchpad functioning before replacing the control board. The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of a volt/ohm meter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

If you have a meter and are confident in your technical abilities please reply below and I will be happy to assist you further.

Just a follow-up on this problem. I ended up replacing the contol board (#8571359) and the "7" changed to a "22", but the problem remained. I then replaced the touchpad control panel (#8283434) and the problem fixed. So this backs what the service manual is essentially saying. If the washer won't function at all, then it's probably the touch pad control panel. If the problem is with the way the washer functions then it's probably one of the control boards.

Pedro,

I am glad to hear you are up and running.

The manual gives certain checks that should be performed to determine which component is faulty. The manual does not direct one to replace either component until the proper checks are made.

Please keep Manage My Life in mind for all of your do-it-yourself projects.

Q:

Why does my Kenmore elite Oasis washer display code "7"?

A:

The technical data sheet does not list an error code "7". I added a list of the possible error codes along with the explanation and the recommended procedure. Generally speaking, the error codes should display along with the letter "F". Are you sure it was a seven and not a one or maybe F-70?

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

I have the same problem with a model #110.21064000. Express Wash, Auto Temp, Warm/Cold, Minimum, and Low all light up with a "7" in the time display. No other buttons will respond. I tried unplugging to reset. As soon as plugged back in, all these buttons light up again.
