Hi,

Thank you for your question, and I would like to answer the question this way.
To get the top off, the first thing you want to do is to remove the console end caps. Remove the end caps by pulling toward to front from the top of the end cap.
Next you will need to unclip the console clips holding the cabinet to the frame and tip the cabinet forward to remove the cabinet or far enough to get the water tube located and reinstalled.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this entry below.
Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I had to drop a couple of numbers to get the model number to work but I believe you have a Kenmore direct drive washer.

On this particular model you use a putty knife to raise the console so the cabinet can be removed to access the lid switch. The image below shows how to do this. Remember to unplug the washer first.

The lid may be bowed or the lid strike may have broken.

I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.

To raise the console/control panel first remove the two endcaps. The image below will help you with this. Then remove two screws holding the control panel.

With the control panel up the cabinet can be removed.

I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.
