Hi Kyle,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I am sorry you are having problems with your washer.

There are quite a few things that can cause this washer to buzz when it should agitate. So that I do not send you in the wrong direction, I need to get a little more information.

  1. Where is the buzz coming from Top or bottom?
  2. Will the washer spin?
  3. Will it drain?
  4. Will it start to agitate if you change speed selection during the buzz/agitation?
  5. Does the buzz start before the fill is complete?

Check the things I have covered here and as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

1. Buzz is coming from bottom left side. 2. Washer won't spin. 3. Will not drain. 4. Does not agitate or do anything besides buzz when I change cycles/speed. 5. It did not buzz before filling. It sounded different after it filled and began so I opened the lid, but began to buzz and stop working once I put lid down. Where can I find model number? It says Maytag Dependable care Plus on top panel.

Biker Dave, I have a broken drain hose on my Kenmore washer, model 11020972992. I have viewed other posts and realize that since my washer, purchased in 2000, was prior to a redesign in 2001, the replacement of the drain hose requires the whole tub ring assembly, not just the drain hose. In your reply above, you attached an image that I believe shows how to reinstall the tub ring. However, when I try to both download it or open it up, the image is very small. When I try to increase the size, the image is fuzzy and the printed words are unreadable. Could you please either reattach a larger copy or if possible is there a webpage link that would also show the images? Thanks for your assistance. Ray S

I can understand how difficult it can be when your washer stops working properly. If the hot water is not coming into the washer then the problem will be a bad water valve or the temperature (ATC) switch is bad. You should be aware that most cycles will fill with a mixture of hot and cold and it is not likely you would get only hot water during a fill. The valve can be checked for continuity if you have access to a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable using it. If you don't have a meter then swapping the wires from the cold valve which works to the hot valve which doesn't would tell you if the valve or the ATC control is the problem. The image below will show you how to raise the console and remove the cabinet to access the ATC switch and water valve. Remember to unplug the washer first. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, just click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread.
