A:

I understand that you want to know what the capacity of your washing machine is. Q:

my washer will wash my clothes but, will not spin my clothes. It is a kenmore washer

A:

A washing machine is one of the most important household appliances due to the fact that it is just so convenient; it saves you time from having to go to a laundry mat and while you are doing other things around the house or just step out of the house you can wash a load all at the same time. So it can be a very big disappointment when the washer no longer works properly. I have taken some time to further your search here on Manage My Life and noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I have attached the link below if you are interested in viewing the page while waiting on your response from an expert. Hope this helps, have a wonderful day!

On this model the lid has to be closed in order for the washer to spin. I recommend checking the lid switch. You should hear the lid switch click as you raise & lower the lid. If the lid switch checks good you will need a meter to track down the problem if the motor does not come on. If the motor is running but the washer will not spin please see the link attached below for more possibilities. Remember to disconnect power to the washer before attempting access.

My Kenmore Elite Washer 11020956993 no longer spins.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Raquel, I appreciate it but the attached link is for a completely different type of washer with a different drive system. I have a direct drive where the motor/trans is under the tub. There is no pulley system. ----- I did manage to dissassemble my washer and I removed the motor coupler. It actually doesn't look bad. How do you know if it needs replacing? If it is not the problem, then what else could it be? Keep in mind that during the spin cycle, I hear a clanging sound, similar to the sound of a metal bowl clanging against a glass in the dishwasher (if you can imagine).

From what you’re describing on this model of washer I suspect the basket drive, drive block or clutch. The clanging noise you hear may be the clutch trying to engage. First_ disconnect power_ to the washer. In the second image provided remove the fabric softener dispenser #1 & cap #25. (#2 is a typo) Use a ½ inch ratchet extension to unscrew the spring retainer #19. Now, remove screw #2 and you will be able to lift the complete agitator assembly up & out of the washer. I have provided you with step by step instructions for the rest of the suspected components. If the drive block, basket drive & clutch look good you will need to replace the transmission.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thanks Biker Dave! I am at the point where I need to go the hardware store and buy a Spanner Wrench in order to remove the Spanner Nut. I have never used a spanner wrench and I am not sure how I am going to hold the tub while cranking on the wrench. Any suggestions?

I am unable to access the drive block or basket drive because I can't remove the spanner nut. The spanner nut seems to be frozen to the drive block. I was able to drop the transmission and inspect the clutch pad and the pad still has life left. Please help!
