2nd time i have asked what this 3rd piece is with part 357141 11020922990 Kenmore Automatic washer

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Because this is an updated actuator kit from the original, it is being used on more than one type of washer. Some washers will use the actuator lever, and some will not. In your case, I do not see that your washer uses the actuator lever, so you can discard it as needed.

how to replace clutch and transmision 11020922990 Kenmore Automatic washer

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your washer. Upon researching model11020922990;  Note: unplug washer power cord before working on unit.

1.      Tur off all water supply valves connected to the washer and disconnect the hoses on the back panel of the washer including drain hose. (some water may spill)

2.      Remove the agitator assembly.

3.      Carefully put the appliance on the floor having the back panel lying on the floor.

4.      Unsnap the clips that secure the pump and remove pump of motor shaft.

5.      Disconnect motor wire harness and unclip harness if retained by plastic clips.

6.      Remove bolts securing the transmission to the base. Pull out transmission (please be carefully as the transmission can be heavy)

7.      Remove the thrust washer from the transmission shaft and the clutch support ring, retainer ring.

8.      Slide clutch of the transmission shaft and remove the screws from the motor retainer securing the transmission to the motor.

9.      Remove the coupler and isolator from transmission. (You may need to use some force for the isolator to come off after removing hardware. Remove the motor plate that’s left.

10.  Reverse the steps using the new transmission.
