Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the motor coupler was broken, the washer would not spin nor would the lower half of the agitator stroke back and forth. The auger attached to agitator is driven by the agitator with 4 agitate dogs. The augur should ratchet in one direction only whenever there is resistance applied to the augur. If you place your hand on top of the agitator while it's agitating, if the agitate dogs are Okay, the augur will move in one direction only in order to help push and pull the clothes downwards.

To access the agitate dogs, remove the cap and then use the square end of a 1/2" drive ratchet extension to remove the spring retainer. Down inside the center of the auger you will see a 1/2" square plastic recessed area. This is the spring retainer that must be removed by turning it counter clockwise (CCW). Once it's removed, lift the augur up and off to access the 4 agitate dogs.

I added a YouTube video showing how to access and replace the agitate dogs.

You can order the agitate dogs part #80040 for Kenmore washer model 110.20902991 at Sears Parts Direct. I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I may need a few more details to give you an accurate answer. If the top part of the agitator is not moving but the bottom part is then most likely the agitator "dogs" need to be replaced. If the bottom part of the agitator is not moving then it may be a transmission problem. If the washer will drain and spin then the motor and motor coupler are okay. If the washer will drain but not agitate or spin then the motor coupler may be broken. Please reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.
