How do you remove the agitator of a Kenmore Elite Catalyst washer model 110.20072991?

The picture of your agitator in the image below should help with this problem.

First remove the agitator cap, part key 1, and barrier cap, part key 22, in the image below.

The cam, part key 3, is the part that gives people the most trouble removing. The cam has a square opening on the top the a 1/2 inch drive extension for a socket will fit into. If you don't have a socket extension then some needle nose pliers can be used. Push down and turn the cam to free it. '

With the cam out the bolt is accessible and the agitator will pull straight off.
