Q:

Can you help me troubleshoot my washer so that I can buy the right part and fix it myself?

A:

A washer is an appliance we depend on so much, when there's laundry to be done.  While you are waiting for an expert to respond I was able to locate some great information that could possibly assist you with your issue.  I have added the link. Hope this helps!

Thank you for providing the information about your washer model 110.16101691, sorry you are having an issue I will be glad to assist you. Based on the description you have provided I believe that the spin basket brake and clutch have worn out. Not uncommon considering the age of the washer. This repair will require a complete teardown of the washer, transmission removal and in addition to the brake assembly and the clutch seals and bearings will need to be replaced. This is not a repair normally suggested unless you have proper tools and extensive repair experience. However I will attach images that show the parts needed, and there may be some parts damaged during disassembly that will have to be replaced. See first image you must have parts # 13, 17, 18 and in second image LT to Rt. You must have # 1 thru #5Again you may require other parts depending on condition after teardown.  I hope this helps, should you need additional help reply with more details and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Ron H.

Q:

what is the red button on my water valve 11016101691

A:

Understanding the buttons on an appliance helps to operate them correctly. The model number provides information on a washer but the question almost sounds like a refrigerator. I did attach the owner's manual and the link to the diagrams at Sears Parts Direct for this model number. I hope this helps while you wait for the expert.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The water inlet valve the washer came with originally and the replacement water inlet valves do not have a red button. I have never seen any water inlet valve with a red button. If you can send a picture of it and add it the post I may be able to identify what it is.

You can view an image of what the valve would normally look like at the web site .
