Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore 106 fridge and freezer not working.Elec socket OK.Blower air warm.Any suggestions?

A:

The refrigerator is the worst appliance to be having a problem with. We always seem to have gone to the store for food when it decides to go out. I did some research at managemylife.com and found a similar question that an expert answered. If you do need to schedule service on line I attached a link to searshomeservices.com. The expert answer is also attached below.

A:

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and see if the compressor is running and the condenser coils on the back are warm.

If the compressor is not running the problem might be the defrost timer or the thermostat. Tap the thermostat knob fairly sharply with a kitchen knife or screwdriver handle.

Put a flat blade screw driver into the small hole next to the thermostat knob and turn the defrost timer shaft clockwise. If either of these cause the compressor to start running, replace the part that caused it.

If the compressor is running and there is no cooling from the fan, you have a sealed refrigeration problem. If that is the case, I recommend you go to www.sears.com/?MML=MMLxexpertxmerch and shop for a new refrigerator.
