Q:

dehumidifier

A:

I can understand your frustration over your dehumidifier not working as it should. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for using Manage My Life. The problem is not with the capacitor. If the capacitor was faulty, it would not run at all. The capacitor you received is called a Dual Run Capacitor. It won't solve your problem though. On those old dehumidifiers, they were sometimes difficult to start in the colder temps. There was an optional start assist kit that used to be available but that part is no longer in production.

This control is like a thermostat except it monitors the humidity level instead of the temperature. These parts do not generally come with manuals and each one can be a little different. I recommend having a technician install this part and check it to make sure it's working properly. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out or for the nearest repair center to take this in to. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

My dehumidifier, model 106555090, does not remove water. Why?

A:

The model number you sent does not run in our system. I can only give you some general information on your dehumidifier.

In order for the dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air, the compressor must be running.

Be sure the humidity in the room is higher than the setting on the dehumidifier. Try turning the humidity setting lower and see if the compressor starts.

The humidity control on the dehumidifier might have failed. The compressor or one of the compressor start components could have failed.

Diagnosing the problem with the dehumidifier will require someone to test the components. I recommend you take the dehumidifier in to a Sears Parts and Service Center or a Sears Retail Store for repair.
