Thanks for contacting manage my life about your dehumidifier model 1069534031; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description I recommend that you start by check in the power cord and other wiring in the control box area. If the unit is not making any sounds at all I suspect a broken wire supplying voltage to the entire unit, or the selector switch. If the unit had power normally there would be some sounds coming from it and some components would be vibrating. When you remove the cover there will be a wiring diagram attached that you can use to trace the power._Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and when testing live voltage be sure to wear proper safety equipment (gloves and eye protection) also be aware of sharp metals on product_You will need a high quality volt/ohm meter to test voltages. I hope this helps if you need additional help reply with details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Q:

Will adjusting the humidistat on my Kenmore dehumidifier model 106.953403 keep the unit running constantly?

A:

The owner's manual for this model is no longer available so I cannot see the specific controls and specifications for this exact model. On similar models that I am able to access technical information on, the humidistat will control the cycling of the compressor and the fan within certain conditions. Once the humidistat is set, the unit will run the compressor and fan until the desired humidity level is reached. The compressor and fan will then cycle off. In certain conditions such as when there is low ambient temperature, the evaporator can frost up to a point where the compressor will cycle off and the fan will continue to run in order to defrost the evaporator. You may have a setting for continuous run on your dehumidifier. In this setting, the fan would run continuously and the compressor would only cycle off when a frosting condition on the evaporator is detected. I hope that this information help you understand the humidistat control on your model of dehumidifier. Without an owner's manual or other technical information available, this is the best that we can do regarding operation information on this model.
