Q:

Kenmore Freestanding icemakermodel #10689583702 10689583702 Kenmore Freestanding icemaker

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model10689583702; open the freezer door and check to make sure that the switch for the ice maker on the right wall of the freezer is turned ON. You should see a red LED light blinking twice, pausing and repeating. If that light is not blinking, then the emitter and receiver level sensing control boards will need to be replaced. If the red LED light is blinking as described above, close the flapper in front of the emitter board on the left side of the freezer so that the beam is not blocked and see if the LED light turns solid instead of blinking. If it does, then the diagnostics for the emitter and receiver control boards passed and these components are likely okay. If the boards are okay, it is likely that your failure is in the ice maker module. Unplug the refrigerator  and make sure that the wire harness connection is plugged in properly.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

I'm looking at your model number 10689583702 and when it keeps making ice even when the bin is full, first check for a loose wire connection on the bin sensor (thermistor). Thanks for the diagnostics, they were helpful. So when I cycle through the diagnostics, item 2 (Bin Thermistor) is On solid with all others Off indicating it's OK. Checked the connections and they are OK. So I cleaned out all of the ice and re-started the ice maker. By morning my ice bin was overflowing again.
